Sustaining a facial injury in Hollywood or your Florida community can be devastating. Many people find their lives forever changed by this type of injury. The emotional trauma as well as the significant pain that this type of injury can cause can lead to years of anxiety, pain, and upset. Since the face is very delicate and involves the ears, nose, and eyes, facial injuries can affect your senses and how you experience the world.

Facial injuries can lead to:14237731773ryp8

  • Scarring
  • Eye injuries
  • Ear injuries (which can affect sense of balance as well as hearing)
  • Mouth and dental injuries (which can affect the ability to speak, breathe, or eat)
  • Muscle injuries

Because faces tend to be the most visible parts of us, injuries to this area of your body can be emotionally devastating. Some patients who suffer severe facial injuries have a hard time adjusting to life after their injury. They may have a hard time socializing, returning to their job, or sometimes even leaving the house. Unfortunately, some people are cruel and may point or stare at people who have been injured in this way.

Workplace injuries in Homestead are unfortunately all too common. If you are injured at a traditional job, you are usually covered by workers’ compensation coverage. In addition, you may have a civil claim against the employer if the company was negligent1398441496zh29r in providing you with a safe workplace.

Increasingly, however, people are choosing work-at-home agreements or freelance work to supplement traditional work or even instead of traditional jobs. These more flexible jobs provide plenty of freedom, but they do come with some risks. One of those risks is that there are fewer benefits and protections offered. If you work at home as an independent contractor or freelancer, you may find that you have fewer protections if you are injured on the job.

Many of us don’t think too much about the safety of windows, but windows are in fact responsible for many serious injuries to children in Hialeah and across Florida. There are several ways that children can be injured and several ways that we can help prevent these types of injuries:

1) Falls.

Children are sometimes able to open a window in an apartment complex or in a home and are able to crawl out of the window, falling to the ground below. This often results in fatalities, spinal cord injury, or head injury. If you have curious toddlers or young children, make sure that the windows in their room are securely latched and cannot be opened easily. Do not push cribs, beds, or other furniture up against a window or under a window; these can provide a surface for a child to climb up onto the window.

April has been declared injury prevention month by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. The next few weeks are a good time to protect yourself against serious injuries that could affect your mobility and your health and safety. According to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, there are several things that you can do to prevent injury in your home and workplace:

1) Reduce your risk of falls.

Falls are one of the most serious workplace injuries and also one of the most common injuries in the home. Falls can lead to fractures, head injuries, and even life-threatening injuries, especially for the elderly. Unfortunately, falls can happen anywhere. To avoid them, wear sturdy shoes, check your medication for side effects such as dizziness, and report any faintness or dizziness to your doctor so that you can treat these symptoms. Always use the proper stepladder or stepstool when trying to reach high shelves or cupboards.

2) Do an injury assessment.

Walk through your home or workplace, looking for potential hazards. If you find any dangers – such as frayed electrical cords, extension cords tucked under rugs, overworked space heaters, and other dangers – take action immediately to remove these issues from the workplace or your home. Your workplace should also have a formal injury assessment as well as a safety program to keep you safe.

Research has shown us that many things can lead to injury. Distraction, alcohol, drugs, and other risky behaviors can lead to car accidents, slip and fall injuries, and other serious injuries in Miami or your community. But what about less tangible risks – such as loneliness?

We rarely think of loneliness as something that could be dangerous; for most, it simply seems like an unfortunate situation. According to scientists, however, lack of social support can also lead to injuries and harm in a number of important ways:

For most people, St. Patrick’s Day is a lighthearted holiday filled with good cheer, parades, green T-shirts, and Irish pride. Unfortunately, due to the high alcohol content at many St. Patrick’s Day events, the holiday can end in injury or even tragedy. If you are planning to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day this year with a house party or at a public event in Hollywood or your ocmmunity, make sure that you have a plan to stay safe and avoid injury. Your plan should include:

1) A buddy system.

You will be safer if you consume alcohol with friends and family, especially if some of your friends are staying sober. Buddies can ensure that you are not at risk of getting mugged, falling over, or sustaining other injuries because you’ve been drinking.

A study published in the journal Neurology India concluded that riders on two-wheeled vehicles (such as motorcycles and other vehicles) were twice as likely to suffer severe injuries in traffic collisions if they did not wear a chinstrap when compared with those who wore a more securely fastened helmet. Researchers concluded that while wearing a helmet helped many motorcyclists and other users avoid injury, those who wore chin straps had the lowest head injury rates. The study’s authors concluded that properly secured helmets could help protect the face, spine, and other vulnerable areas in an accident and called to make them mandatory for all riders of motorcycles, bicycles, and other two wheel vehicles.

What this study and other research shows is that whether you are riding a bicycle, motorcycle, or any sort of vehicle that requires a helmet, the right safety gear is essential. However, throwing on any helmet is not enough. When choosing a helmet, make sure that you:

I had a lawyer on another case and I never spoke to the lawyer and I hated that I never knew what was going on in my case. Mr. Flaxman was in constant communication with me, explained everything to me, and his staff was really great too. My phone calls were always returned immediately. It was refreshing to be able to speak to my attorney personally. I would HIGHLY recommend Mr. Flaxman as an attorney to anyone who has been in an accident. Gloria
